Usually Saturday photography is off limits as my wife works, however one afternoon in early March I saw my favourite sunset conditions brewing - a thick bank of cloud with a clear gap on the horizon..
The old FOMO started kicking in, so I thought I'd try my luck and head to Corton Beacon - it's got great views, would be safe for the kids and was just around the corner.
Butter wouldn't melt...
Aged 2 and 6 my boys are great fun to be with, but DEMAND constant attention, so photography is near impossible in their presence. I thought I'd bribe them to keep still with Bike and Ninetendo Switch...
As I had hoped the sunset started to kick off....
Things were going well - son 1 was in his element....
Unfortunately, the sunset wasn't the only thing kicking off.....
Annoyingly I didn't think to bring my tripod, so the remaining shots were captured while holding the camera in one hand and a wiggly, screaming 2 year old in the other!
Sadly, it all became a bit too much for Son 2 - so I had to do one of the most painful things any wannabe photographer can do - walk away from epic skies like this and head back to the car...
Wah wah waaaaah
Still, son number 1 had a nice time..
Lesson learnt - no matter how nice the conditions, photography with a rambunctious, head strong, wild 2 year old will only end in tears! Sunday mornings only from now on it is!
